Getting Started
This week, children continue learning about plants and how they grow and begin to understand that all living things have basic needs. Children will:
- Investigate basic plant needs
- Explore plants indoors and outdoors
- Continue to observe, measure, and record the growth of their plants
- Build and observe a worm habitat
- Listen to the read-aloud informational book Wonderful Worms by Linda Glaser, and be introduced to how worms help plants grow
- Listen to the read-aloud book Vegetable Garden by Douglas Florian and follow the changes in a vegetable garden through the seasons of the year
- Watch the Between the Lions video “Wonderful Worms” to think and talk about how plants rely on other living things to meet their needs
- Be introduced to the letter “Ww,” the /w/ sound, and the word worm
