ELA Focus Skills: Follow Directions, Name Recognition, Phonological Awareness, Speaking and Listening
Tell children you are going to sing “Where Is?” with them again today.
Explain that you will call out a name before singing, say, As I call out a name, I will clap out the syllables in the name.
Then have children join you in singing and clapping the name in the song. Demonstrate with one volunteer.
- Call out and clap a name.
- Sing the first line and clap child's name as you sing it. Then have children join you in repeat the song/clap for the second line.
- Have the child respond with “Here I am, Here I am” after the group sing his or her name.
- Continue until each child has been acknowledged.
